The Kursk class scout submarine is known for it's rugged performance and cheap cost of manufacture. The vessel was intended to perform escort duties as well as act as a vanguard screen for fleets of the Red Navy.

Orion II

The Orion II is a Poseidon class search and rescue submarine. Designed to get in out of dangerous territory fast and undetected. Well armed for its size with 3 coil guns (including the drone coil gun) and a front rail gun. But not overpower due to the use of glass and some blind spots (especially when the drone is not docked). The Pegasus exploration drone can be used to explore caverns, transport divers for long distances or as an escape pod. The type II is a modified version of the original. The modifications are based around feedback from the community, friends and my own experiences. In general the type II will be more challanging to play. The original is still available in the workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2108981312 Submarine characteristics: - Small size (same size as the Dugong). - Can be operated by a small 3 man crew, but has space for a larger crew. - The captain can toggle most functions from or at the command console. - Notifications in the chat/radio for some functions (default is off and needs to be enabled at the nav console, switch 2). - Drone coil gun can also be controlled from the sub (press the trigger once to take control). - Fabricator, medical fabricator and deconstructor are all present. - Some weak spots, especially at the front when the drone is not docked. Drone characteristics: - Very small and agile - Large battery capacity (in case you need it as an escape shuttle). - Armed with a single coil gun (green or red light indicates if you have control). - Can be navigated remotely from the sub or from inside the drone (toggle on the shuttle navigation console on the submarine and drone). - Automated docking that can be disabled. - Disable power button so that the drone can be “parked” on a surface and disabled to prevent the batteries being drained while the divers are outside (can be toggled from the submarine and drone) - When docked its engine and ballast become part of the submarine and are controlled trough the command console automatically (great for shredding some nasties near the submarine airlock). - When docked it will charge the batteries but will never power the submarine. All vanilla subs with automated doors and other quality of life features like better lighting and airlocks. This mod makes the following changes and includes the following workshop mods: - Smartdoor for automatic doors that will close and require a button press in the event of a hull breach. - A modified Ultra Optimized Perfect Airlock that was hand placed for each individual sub and uses two pumps alongside duct blocks for quick pressurization to and from the subs. - Color coded reactor fuel percentages to the reactor's "screen" - Better lighting in general and subs with fabricators/deconstructors/medfabs were linked to the appropriate storage, if they weren't already. - All subs with bottom airlocks were given docking hatches, attached to the main sonar for docking to beacon stations, etc. This mod attempts to add just a little quality of life without dramatically changing the vanilla subs. Tastelessly dressed in a gold-embroidered suit that wouldn't have looked bad on his heavy body, the captain looked very happy and excited. He promptly announced that he was assembling a crew and promised to pour for anyone who would accept. People quickly crowded around his table, and out of interest, I also sat closer. When all the signatures had been collected, and the sailors were already washing over their successful hiring, the captain, flabby in his chair, with wide greedy smile from ear to ear on his face, began the tale about reason of his joy. All the following may seem like complete nonsense, as I thought at the time as I listened to the captain set his course for the source of the faint signal he had mistaken for an artifact. His ship had come to a crack in a huge block of ice, going deep into the dark abyss. Half frozen in the ice, among the seaweed and lime, there was a strangely shaped ship. And as it turned out, it was almost completely uninjured, damaged only by rust and sea creatures that had taken a fancy to its hull. It seemed like inviting inside with wide-open airlocks. The captain kept talking and talking, and I was deep in thought: "what could have happened to the ship and its crew? Suddenly a rustling and incomprehensible muttering made me turn around. A skinny old man, dirty and in rotten rags, apparently awakened by the uproar, was pointing with a trembling finger somewhere in the darkness of the porthole. The gaze of his crazy, whitish eyes, in which, as if for a moment, a huge dark silhouette appeared, rushed across the room in search of shelter. All shrunken and twisted, he cowered further into his dark corner of the room, his body convulsed and his mind obscured by delirium. I was the only one watching the mad old man, and everyone else, absorbed in thoughts of future profits, pelted the heavy captain with questions. Mesmerized by his movements, I saw him pull a strange object out of his pocket, like a rusty valve. His thin, shriveled hands gripped it so tightly that his knuckles protruded as hard as if they were about to tear the parchment-white skin. Clutching the strange amulet to his chest, the madman whispered softly. The words flew from his cracked lips like a curse. Leaning slightly in his direction, I heard his repeating mantra: "The one who rises can plunge into the abyss, and the one who plunges can rise again".
