Gunshots Attract Hordes

This mod causes hordes to attack the survivors if they fire their weapons enough. Every weapon has an assigned volume level. Each time the weapon is used, this volume level is added to a meter; when the meter fills, it resets and a horde is triggered. To avoid attracting hordes, switch to quieter weapons. To have some fun, rev the chainsaw for a few seconds. Using a weapon whilst you're already in combat will be less likely to contribute to the meter. This is done to prevent hordes from spawning infinitely. The volume of each weapon can be customised by editing the values in the "ems\gunshot_hordes\weapon_volume.txt" text file. You can set a specific volume for each weapon, and change how much noise is needed before a horde is summoned. This map was originally created by Wixard back in 2009. I have always wanted to play this on L4D2 so I ported it over and fixed all the bugs that I could find. NOTE: Map 1 has a new and different Convenience Store event, I have removed the original Van event from the campaign completely. Now instead you'll have to locate a fuse somewhere in a variable location of the main parking lot. (Cant find it? look under the power meter in the store for some examples of what they look like. It should always be somewhere in the parking lot just outside the store). Updated 9/7/2015

Addon status: discontinued! (last update: jan 22nd, 2025) Feel free to modify this addon and publish it, but with one condition: you need refer the original author (aka me). Oh, and I recommend to send link to your modded addon in comment sections of original addon - because I rarely checking L4D2's Steam Workshop.

Original plan was to release K1CHWA's SW29 textures in the form of an RNG system, but I ultimately scrapped the idea and decided to release them on an individual basis instead. So without further ado, here's the gold version of my Smith & Wesson M29 Reborn mod. Everything is the same as in the original release, just with K1CHWA's gold textures instead.
