But one day, darkness awakened ancient forces that had long been asleep. A strange plague spread among the people, turning them into soulless creatures hungry for flesh. Many cities fell, the streets became overrun with the undead, and the few survivors lived in constant fear. Realizing the danger, the King commanded his army to reclaim the castle, now consumed by evil. Brave warriors and desperate survivors united to face the ancient being lurking within the fortress, hoping to destroy it and end the nightmare once and for all. The classic version of de_mirage (de_mirage_se / de_mirage_ce), which was added to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2013. **************************************************************************** The map was originally created by Michael “BubkeZ” Hüll around 2004, under the name de_cpl_strike for the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) tournaments. Later, it was reworked and redesigned by Chris “Narby” Auty, who transformed it into de_mirage, giving it a Middle Eastern aesthetic and adjusting the layout. Eventually, Valve officially adopted Mirage for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2013, where it became one of the most iconic and enduring maps in the series.
