Disclaimer This is a very early demo/test for this mod's concept. While it should be fully functional its far from feature complete and may have issues or poor balance. Play at your own peril. Umbra Umbra is a slightly different take on the concept of a 'difficulty' mod, it allows you to slowly increase and customize the game difficulty as you play in a style similar to a skill tree. Its intent is to provide a large variety of different and unique ways to make enemies stronger (or you weaker!) that allows you to amp up the difficulty of the game in a way that best suits you. Or you could just try to turn everything on and suffer, if you really want that. How to play As you slay enemies, you will gradually build up to or rarely drop whole Umbra points , which you can spend on the umbral tree to make the game harder. Once you have some points, you can click the umbra bar in your inventory to open the tree and select the ndoes you want by left clicking them. Those available to be allocated will be flashing (note that some nodes cost more than one point). If you change your mind, you can de-allocate a node which no others rely on, but you will only be refunded half (rounded down) of the points you spent on it. For every node you allocate, you will gain Doom , which increases your luck and the amount of loot you find from enemies. This mod adds the "Stylish Rank" system from Devil May Cry 5. This mod is built to be fully client-side (features like weapon damage modifiers and coin rewards are not implemented). And it now has the 1.4.4 support. How to obtain higher Rank: The "Rank" depends on the combo you have. Combo is gained by dealing damage to enemies (each time you hit an enemy, your combo increases). Faster weapons give less combo than slower weapons (for balancing purposes). Also, make sure to switch your weapons (The longer the weapon is used, the less combos it gives. Whips are not affected by this). Combo depletes over time, so make sure to keep dealing damage! Combo also decrease when you take damage (the more damage you take, the greater the depletion). Rank UI: The "Rank" UI position is fully configurable, you can change the position by dragging (this is disabled by default, this feature can be enabled in the mod configuration). You can also resize the UI using the config. If you do this however, dragging will ONLY be available in the ORIGINAL AREA (default is 129x129 pixels). Other features: This system also comes with unique sound and visual effects. These effects will appear when a new rank (higher or lower) is obtained (this feature can be disabled in the mode configuration). Weapon Scaling 1.3 beta for 1.4 with support for the new weapons but things may break and mod compatibility is currently unimplemented. More testing is necessary but all appears fully functional. Have you ever reached late-game and wished there was something exactly like Waterbolt, but that actually dealt enough damage to be usable? Or maybe you really wanted to run a whole fire-themed character but all molten weapons become useless as soon as you get some funny red ore? Or maybe you just really want to make the god of all shortswords? Fear no more! We got you covered! W1K's Weapon Scaling works in a very simple way. Every vanilla weapon (more on mods later) has been given an appropriate tier based on when they are obtained in the game, this system, alongside farmable upgrade items, let you upgrade the weapon of your choice to higher tier, damage scaling as appropriate. To keep it simple, this was done through a lot of math and a funny excel sheet calculating the average DPS increases for each progression tier. The result is a somewhat balanced system of scaling that should keep your weapon of choice comparable or slightly inferior to weapons of the same tier. Now, there's obviously downsides to this. Namely, not all weapons are perfectly balanced on their own. While I have done some individual adjustments myself, I can't try all potential weapon and tier combinations on my own, so I will ask for your comprehension and feedback so that I can keep tweaking the numbers further. You might've noticed I specified vanilla. There is no way for me to determine the right tiers for weapons coming from external mods, HOWEVER, a solution is already in place. Mod authors can specify compatible weapons, tiers and adjust scaling of any weapon through the comfiness of their own mods! This is quick and simple, if not a bit tedious for big mods. An example mod is provided in the related thread on the community forums. I will provide a list of supported mods as well as I am made aware! So that's all! You aren't alone, hence this mod adds spooky equivalents to the Present loot for Goodie Bags! This mod completely overhauls the loot table of goodie bags, costumes are no longer guaranteed (1 in 10 chance) to give the more useful items time to shine, and some drop rates were also modified to bring parity with presents. Additionally, costume drops were made mutually exclusive with the other item drops, so you won't get scammed out of an item if you happen to get a costume. Instead, you'll get both! With the addition of shimmer, presents can now be shimmered into goodie bags, and vice versa. Unfortunately we can't really give an accurate release date just yet, we will release the mod when it is ready. Q: Is this mod going to be translated into my language, or can I help with that? A: The mod will be supporting translations depending on whoever is able to contribute. However, as of November 11th 2024, there is currently not really anything to translate as we are currently focusing on the functional part of development. Q: Will this mod be compatible with multiplayer and other mods? A: We aim to make this mod compatible with multiplayer and other mods. The mod will be balanced around vanilla Terraria, we cannot account for (all) other mods altering the balance of the base game. Q: Can I contribute to the mod in any way? A: Yes! This is a non-profit passion project, so we are welcoming any help we can get. We are primarily looking for experienced tML programmers to help implement features. All other people wanting to help with writing story, figuring out mechanics and/or building are also welcome! Mod is under development
