Hello! Looks like it's time for my first Source 2 map release. I created this map for the ongoing "GameBanana + MapINK CS2 Mapping contest". It has a lot of custom content and I tried to create a coherent mood that takes you away from the usual counter strike vibe. Contest link: https://gamebanana.com/contests/131 Gamebanana entry for the map: https://gamebanana.com/mods/507063 I'm pretty happy with the result, I've worked on it tirelessly for a month. (From march 11th to april 11th) ↓↓↓ Feel free to scroll down to the threshold to skip some tech related talk. ↓↓↓ This map was loosely based on Shin Evangelion, specifically the later movies (3rd and 4th). Still, considering the short amount of time I had to work on it. I didn't bother trying to get super close from the original designs. I just really liked it and wanted to pay respect to the franchise while getting to work on this contest! A few things to note: First, considering I was running out of time, and the fact I just wasted 30 hours trying to compile in 8k lightmaps like the wiki was suggesting for a release version. This is a 2k lightmap version of the map, as such there will be a few things that aren't too amazing with its lighting. These will get fixed post-release once I get around and compile a higher resolution lightmap. Regardless of this, I still think the lighting looks pretty decent for a 2k version and I hope it won't hurt my chances in the competition! :> Second, I still had so much more in mind for the map. You'll find some places feeling a bit eerily empty. It is not by design, I just ran out of time. A month passes fast, especially when you still have other responsibilities. :'> -- Start reading from here if you're just a player and don't care about the tech stuff. In any case! I hope you'll all get to enjoy this map. There a few dynamic elements to it for a bit of variation from round to round gameplay. This was intended as a wingman map and only has one bomb site. I still added 5 spawns to each team in case some people want to run it for 5v5 regardless. Finally, if VALVe is interested in this map (highly unlikely). I'm absolutely willing to polish and remove the memes from it (✿◡‿◡) Special thanks to my girlfriend and friends for the feedback throughout! King’s Ambition is a route fit for royalty—steep, relentless, and demanding absolute precision. From the first move, it pulls you into a battle of strength and technique, with delicate crimps and heart-pounding exposure. The final push is a true test of will. CS2KZ is a skill-based mod for Counter-Strike 2 where players complete challenging obstacle courses that test their precision, speed, and movement skills. Compete against yourself or others, improve your abilities, and climb the ranks as you master each course. The "Vanilla" (VNL) mode is the standard CS2 experience. The goal is to preserve as much of the default movement mechanics as possible while only providing quality of life adjustments. This means no movement related settings are changed and the gameplay should feel exactly like standard matchmaking. Classic kz (CKZ) mode is less restricted with better airstrafing and bhopping, basically movement on steroids compared to vanilla. Everything is smoother and easier. This is the recommended mode for beginners What are tiers? Tier tells you how difficult map is and how experienced player you have to be to finish the map. Maps always have tiers for both vanilla and ckz, tier 2 map in ckz might be tier 5 in vanilla for example. It's recommended that beginners don't go higher than tier 3 CKZ. LIST OF TIERS - 1 Very Easy - for the average player who has never touched KZ before - 2 Easy - you grasp the basics of CS2 movement, like airstrafing and bhopping - 3 Medium - you have some KZ experience and are comfortable with the basics - 4 Advanced - you are comfortable with strafing, bhopping, surfing, and ladder movement - 5 Hard - you have played quite a bit of KZ now and are comfortable combining the above techniques - 6 Very Hard - tier 5 but harder - 7 Extreme - you can KZ in your sleep and are competing for World Records - 8 Death - you have mastered KZ and can complete the most difficult of maps - 9 Unfeasible - technically possible, but probably not by humans; reserved for TAS runs - 10 Impossible - literally and technically impossible, even with perfect inputs
