SURVIVAL MAP Vacant is a medium survival map that is set in an abandoned Ukrainian office building. The main building contains various pieces of office equipment, cubicles, and random debris lying around. Attached to the main building is a warehouse, which connects to the main office area. Outside one can find multiple destroyed vehicles, abandoned shipping containers, and a large oil tank. L4D2 features: - Storm effects - Night time setting - New rooms to explore Interesting facts - Started making the map in Jan 2010 - The map was made from scratch in Hammer, it was NOT ported from Call of Duty 4 as some people seem to believe - Forum thread announcement, 17th Feb, 2010 (first screenshots) - v1.1 released 10th Sep, 2010 (9 months to get to beta) - v1.8 released 29th Apr, 2012 (that's almost 2yrs working on this map!) Did you know? - My method to make the map so accurately was to run the game (COD4) and use Hammer at the same time. I used ALT-TAB to switch between them and moved around in Spectate mode to get as close to things as possible - The first release was the normal daytime setting, but changed to night to suit the zombie and stormy setting - The bloodstain near the grenade launcher spawn has been there since v1.3, but in v1.8 you actually see why it's there. - Bill dying was added in v1.8 to coincide with being dead in The Sacrifice - The jukebox never worked until v1.8 and even then it's only the default music. I had tried to make custom music like Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, but it never worked out. - In v1.8 I added my own logo somewhere in the building as a sign this map was made from scratch - CEDA never turned up until v1.8. I made the CEDA (plastic chairs, display board) area because it was so empty in that space. I also needed another area to add supplies. The tables of supplies were added in such a way that CEDA would be set up to explain to people what each item does, like a briefing situation.

I was going to implement this on the Grabber Charger, felt too intrusive of a change so i made it standalone; as a preference for those who want it or not.
