The British planned an advance of approximately 1,500 yards (1,400 m), without the disadvantages of rain soaked ground and poor visibility encountered in August. The advances were much quicker and the final objective was reached a few hours after dawn, which confounded the German counter-attack divisions. Having crossed 2 miles (3.2 km) of mud, the Eingreif divisions found the British already established along a new defence line, with the forward battle zone and its weak garrison gone beyond recapture. After the Battle of the Menin Road Ridge, the German defensive system was changed, beginning a resort to expedients which lasted for the rest of the battle. In August, German front-line divisions had two regiments of three battalions each deployed forward, with the third regiment in reserve. The front battalions had needed to be relieved much more frequently than expected, due to the power of British attacks, constant artillery fire and the weather, which caused replacement units to become mixed up with ones holding the front, rather than operate as formed bodies. Reserve regiments had not been able to intervene early enough, leaving front battalions unsupported until Eingreif divisions arrived, some hours after the commencement of the attack. ------------------------------------------------------------ THIS MAP IS DISCONTINUED FOR NOW AND LIKELY WONT RECIEVE UPDATES IN THE FUTURE ------------------------------------------------------------ MAP Taking place in 1917 On the western front, This is my first ww1 based map. The map is based off Battlefield 1 maps. The battle of passchendaele was fought from july to august 1917. The map itself Features Weapon/Gadget/Elite class Pickup crates, Rain, Tank wrecks Around the map, A big bertha artillery gun, Several Shellholes, WW1 Weapons, And more! FEATURES Weapon Crates - Forest Gadget Crates - Desert Elite Crates - Russia Tank wrecks (Landship And Sturmpanzerwagen) and Tanktraps Around the map! Barrage Blimps! (That floats by themselves!) A FRICKEN AIRSHIP BEHEMOTH! (That actually floats by itself!) Armored train wreck! Shellholes! Plane wrecks (S.E.5, Albatros and annushka) Destroyed houses! Trenches! Several German Forts! A Big bertha Artillery gun, sitting at the base of hill 65! Some trenches have a little bit of overgrowth on them (Based off rupture from bf1!) Weapon stations! Mustard Gas (Deadzone) EASTER EGGS! A certain tank from the bf1 campaign. This map features some mods, but if you are a workshop user in general, You shold have some of these already installed! FACTIONS British Empire VS German Empire Canada (Allied Colonies) BEHEMOTH This map features a airship behemoth than floats above poelcappelle and menin bridge. good luck getting there though xD ELITE PICKUPS Elite pickups are found in dark green crates (Russia crates) Scattered around the map. These inlcude the following: Sentry Trench raider Tank Hunter Cavalry (Flame trooper not included for reasons) RECOMMENDED SETTINGS!!! No clouds Old trees Enabled fog IMPORTANT Mods like rains ww2 mod or spys better living aren´t necessary, BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Rains ww2 mod adds entrenching tools objects to the trenches to add to the bf1 feel. Spys better living adds smoke and fire effects, Including gas particles to deadzones on map. Incoming Features/Updates Fixes for whatever bugs you find! Improvements Spawn Balancing So stay tuned for Incoming updates! For the next ww1 map i will attempt to create Fort de vaux (Fort vaux) or Lupkow pass from bf1 dlc´s. Keep in mind that this may take awhile! (Note: Due to recent loss of modded objects on the yet unfinished fort vaux map its uncertain if i will release it at all. currently im debating whether to abandon it, continue working, or release it in its current state. most of the outside terrain is done but some objects dissappeared when i was moving it over to my new computer.)
