Geometric Placement on Your Don't Starve Together Server

Geometric Placement snaps buildings and objects to a visible grid while placing them, and lets you flip the display by holding Ctrl if you'd rather build freely. Beyond the standard square grid, hexagonal geometries are available for the tightest possible base layouts, and a dedicated toggle key switches quickly between your most recently used grid types. It's the spiritual successor to older classics like Architectural Geometry, so it shouldn't run alongside them.

Because Geometric Placement is a purely client-side mod, it only affects the player who installs it — your server doesn't need to run it, and other players only see the build grid if they enable the mod themselves.

Tip: Especially useful for symmetrical co-op base layouts, with zero server-side setup required.

Plan the rollout and operation

Geometric Placement is especially useful for jointly planned bases because spacing and paths become repeatable. Agree on grid shape and spacing before several players build in parallel. Test walls, farms, crock pots, and coastal areas where collisions or awkward gaps appear quickly. Do not enable older placement mods that alter the same controls at the same time. Buildings already placed remain part of the world even if a client disables the helper later.

For rollout, a clean client profile on the matching DST version is enough. Back up personal settings, enable only this mod, and connect to the existing world. Check the interface, hotkeys, cave travel, reconnecting, and combinations with other client mods. Because the server does not require the feature, a player should still be able to join without it. Publish the Workshop ID as a recommendation rather than a hidden requirement. After a DST update, test from a fresh profile first; stale interface files or saved options are easier to isolate locally than inside a large collection. If problems appear, the affected player can disable the mod and add other convenience extensions back one at a time. Pure client functionality does not require a world rollback or changes to cluster.ini.
