Minimap HUD on Your Don't Starve Together Server
Minimap HUD adds a fully functional miniature map to the interface, zoomable with the mousewheel and pannable by click-and-drag. Zoom levels for the minimap and the full map screen are tracked and saved independently, so switching between them keeps your preferred view intact. A "Close Minimap" button lets you collapse it whenever you want a clearer screen, and the mod stays compatible with most other interface mods.
Since Minimap HUD is a purely client-side mod, there's nothing to install on your rented server — each player activates it individually through the Steam Workshop, no matter what mods the server itself is running.
Tip: Great for players who want a permanent orientation aid without repeatedly opening the full map screen.
Plan the rollout and operation
Minimap HUD works well as an optional convenience for players moving frequently between base, resources, and expeditions. Check size, zoom, and position at several resolutions so the map does not overlap inventories or other HUD elements. If the group wants navigation to remain part of the challenge, do not make the minimap mandatory. Problems normally affect only that client and can be tested without changing the world save.
For rollout, a clean client profile on the matching DST version is enough. Back up personal settings, enable only this mod, and connect to the existing world. Check the interface, hotkeys, cave travel, reconnecting, and combinations with other client mods. Because the server does not require the feature, a player should still be able to join without it. Publish the Workshop ID as a recommendation rather than a hidden requirement. After a DST update, test from a fresh profile first; stale interface files or saved options are easier to isolate locally than inside a large collection. If problems appear, the affected player can disable the mod and add other convenience extensions back one at a time. Pure client functionality does not require a world rollback or changes to cluster.ini.
