Less Building Placement Restrictions (LBPR) v7.5.5 on your server
LBPR removes Conan Exiles' strict building placement rules and, with over 650,000 subscribers, is one of the most widely used building mods around. It lets you build in spots the vanilla game blocks — NPC camps, dungeons, caves — with toggles for whether that applies to everyone, admins only, or nobody. Even the newer built-in "build anywhere" server setting still won't let thralls be placed in those zones; LBPR closes that gap with finer control. You'll also need the companion ModControlPanel mod to access LBPR's settings in-game. Add both mods, in the same order, to your server's modlist.txt, and make sure every player has subscribed to the identical mods in the identical order via Steam Workshop — mismatched load orders are a common cause of join failures.
Plan the rollout and operation
LBPR changes the rules of the world, not just building convenience. Begin with a restrictive admin configuration and open extra construction zones only after testing them. Check dungeons, NPC camps, caves, and thrall placement separately because structures there can block paths, spawns, or encounters. Document the selected permissions alongside your server rules so players know which locations are allowed and which constructions staff will remove.
For a safe rollout, back up the world and server configuration, record the current modlist.txt including order, and start a copy on the exact same game version. Review the boot log for missing packages, then join with a client using the same Workshop list. A useful smoke test covers joining, spawning, one core mod feature, saving, restarting, and joining again. After major game updates, delay the live update until the mod and its dependencies are explicitly compatible. Change only one part of the list per test run; otherwise a crash cannot be traced to a specific entry. Before removal, use a world copy to check for stored items, buildings, thralls, or configuration owned by the mod. Remove its Workshop entry from production only after the save loads cleanly without those assets. This keeps rollback and diagnosis manageable.
