Mod Menu: A Player-Facing Overview, Not a Server Feature
Mod Menu adds an in-game menu where players can browse every installed mod, read its description, and jump into its config screen. With over 117 million downloads, it's one of the most widely used utility mods in the Fabric ecosystem — and it is entirely client-side.
The server never interacts with Mod Menu in any way, so there's no reason to install it in your server's mods folder. Instead, list it among the recommended client mods you hand to players, particularly if your modpack bundles many individually configurable mods.
Support tip: Mod Menu is often the first place players check when troubleshooting mod versions — worth knowing when a ticket mentions it, since any issue there is purely client-side and unrelated to server configuration.
Plan the rollout and operation
Mod Menu belongs only in the client profile and is especially useful for support because players can inspect installed versions and available settings directly. Ask for a screenshot of the mod list during join or graphics problems rather than guessing from file names. Test the menu with Cloth Config or YACL when other mods open settings through them. Mod Menu adds no value on the server itself and should be absent there.
For a clean rollout, create a separate client profile and record the Minecraft, loader, and mod versions. Start without other optional mods, join the server, and check menus, the resource pack, dimension travel, and the actual feature. Add rendering, interface, and convenience mods back one at a time afterward. Publish the tested combination as a recommendation, not a server promise, because hardware and local settings differ. After an update, compare logs and behaviour with a fresh profile before reusing old configuration files. Keep the mod out of the server directory while its project page explicitly classifies it as client-side. On failure, the world remains untouched: the affected player disables the local file or returns to the documented version. For support, request a screenshot of the active profile instance, latest.log, and a list of other graphics mods; these show whether the loader, driver, or an overlap is responsible instead of the server.
