VPPAdminTools on Your DayZ Server
VPPAdminTools is a comprehensive admin toolkit for DayZ servers, letting operators manage players, enforce rules, and monitor the server. The mod requires CF (Community Framework) as a dependency — load both mods through the same startup parameter, in the order -mod=@CF;@VPPAdminTools, and make sure the last entry doesn't end with a semicolon. Copy the @VPPAdminTools and @CF folders from your Workshop directory into the server's root directory. All of the mod's configuration then lives in your server's profiles folder, alongside the generated log files (.RPT, .log, .adm). To set up a Super Admin, add their Steam ID to the SuperAdmins.txt file under VPPAdminTools/Permissions/. More than 3.7 million subscribers already rely on the tool.
Tip: Ask your host where the profiles folder lives if you can't find it.
Plan the rollout and operation
Configure VPPAdminTools with separate roles for support, moderation, and ownership. Super Admin access should remain limited to a few known Steam IDs. Try teleporting, spectating, kicking, and object actions with a test player, then inspect the generated logs. Back up the permissions directory before changes so a bad role edit can be rolled back without touching the world, loot economy, or unrelated profile data.
Before changes, back up the mission, profiles directory, and persistent storage, then record the Workshop ID, mod folder, and position in the -mod= parameter. Copy any supplied signature key into the server key directory and edit XML or JSON files only from a validated copy. After boot, review RPT, script, and admin logs, connect two clients, and test joining, the core feature, persistence, and reconnecting. Loot or types changes do not happen merely because the mod is loaded; merge them deliberately and verify the result in the world after restart. Schedule a maintenance window for updates, move server and clients to the same Workshop release, and keep the previous configuration ready for rollback. Remove a mod first on a test copy after stored items, vehicles, buildings, or profile entries have been handled. This prevents signature kicks, empty spawns, and unnecessary wipes.
