Cobblemon Official Modpack (Fabric) on Your Server
With more than 8 million downloads, the official Cobblemon modpack for Fabric is the go-to way to play Cobblemon, the wildly popular Pokémon mod. Unlike pure client-side optimization packs, this one is a genuine server-and-client package: your rented server runs a Fabric server with Cobblemon and its companion mods installed, while players need the exact same modpack client to catch, battle, and trade Pokémon. It currently supports Minecraft 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, focused on adventure-style multiplayer.
Tip: On game-serverhosting, install the Cobblemon Official Modpack straight from the Modpack tab in your server dashboard — a one-click, Modrinth-based install with no manual file uploads. Make sure your players download the same modpack client from Modrinth or CurseForge, otherwise they won't be able to connect.
Plan the rollout and operation
Plan Cobblemon Fabric as a fixed server season with the same pack version for everyone. Build the server from the intended server package, define Pokémon, battle, and trading rules, and test world generation, catching, saving, and reconnecting with at least two players. Add extra mods one at a time afterward. A world copy is essential for pack upgrades because new data, recipes, and creatures go far beyond client visuals.
For a stable season, back up the world, configuration, and current pack files, and record the pack, Minecraft, and loader versions together. Use the official server package rather than copying the client folder, and give every player the exact same release. On a test instance, check world generation, joining, the core mechanic, saving, restarting, and joining again with at least two clients. Add extra mods individually and document them as deviations from the pack. Before an upgrade, test a copy of the real save, read the changelog and server log, and inspect removed or renamed content. Only then switch during a maintenance window. Keep the old server version and backup until several real play sessions complete without data or synchronization errors. Also document the client download path and a checksum or release label so nobody joins with a similarly named but different profile by mistake.
