The ATM10 measurement series describes three synthetic runs with a 10 GiB product allocation and an actually measured 12 GiB container limit. It yields neither a tested 8 GiB minimum nor a player count recommendation. Use the documented pack version and load as a comparison baseline before deriving a plan from it.

The decisive measurement limit: The container was actually allowed to use up to 12,288 MiB. The product allocation of 10,240 MiB and this technical upper limit are different values. The measurements therefore prove neither a tested RAM minimum nor a direct comparison between a hard 8 GiB and a hard 10 GiB limit.

Three Comparable Measurement Runs

The runs of August 26, 27, and 28, 2026 used the same server pack version on the same test node. Each run was completed independently and contains 120 samples. The following values are aggregated per run; the maximum of the three P95 values is not a newly calculated P95 across all 360 samples.

Parameter Common setup
Modpack All the Mods 10 8.0, CurseForge project 925200, server file 8649107
Minecraft / Loader Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.247
Product allocation 10,240 MiB (10 GiB)
Measured container limit 12,288 MiB (12 GiB)
World Same seed, Chunky radius 500, target area of 4,225 pregenerated chunks
Entities 100 cows requested, 101 entities observed
Time window per run 600 s warm-up, then 1,800 s measurement, interval 15 s
Load type Synthetic world generation and resource run without real players
Run (UTC date) Samples RAM P95 / Peak (MiB) CPU P95 TPS minute minimum Highest MSPT P95 value
08/26/2026 120 8,081 / 8,083 13.55 % 19.92 14.6 ms
08/27/2026 120 7,939 / 7,940 20.16 % 20.00 18.8 ms
08/28/2026 120 8,137 / 8,138 18.96 % 20.00 19.4 ms

All runs reported 0 MiB swap and 0 OOM events. The 4,225 chunks describe the pregenerated target area; it does not follow that they were all loaded at the same time during every sample. The values apply to this setup and this version. A complex player base with machines, additional dimensions, and extra mods generates a different load.

What Does This Mean for 8 or 10 GB RAM?

The 10 GB product tier has been measured three times for the described setup. With the same version and the same runtime conditions, it can serve as a guideline. 8 GB was not tested in this series. From the usage of a differently limited container, it cannot be predicted whether a smaller heap would still be sufficient or how often its garbage collector would run.

Our capacity model calculates a planning value of 9,984 MiB from the three runs. It takes the larger value of RAM P95 plus 20 percent reserve and RAM peak plus 512 MiB, and rounds up to 256 MiB. This calculated value is a reservation basis, not an additional load test and not proof of a hard memory limit.

Before choosing, check the offered pack version, the RAM allocation, and the effective memory limit. Current selection: Configure a Minecraft Server. For a different ATM10 version or a different runtime configuration, the numbers do not automatically apply.

Telling Heap, Container Usage, and Lag Apart

-Xmx limits the Java heap. In addition, the JVM needs memory for classes, thread stacks, and native data, among other things. The measured container usage is therefore not a heap measurement; the table does not report the off-heap portion separately.

A curve that rises and then falls after garbage collection does not by itself prove a bottleneck. What matters is whether long GC pauses coincide with tick problems. A certain percentage of usage on its own is also not a reason to upgrade.

If spark is installed, /spark tps, /spark gc, and /spark health show --memory help with the assessment. In the event of an unexpected stop, also check the OOM and console messages. More RAM helps with proven memory pressure; for slow mods or complex machines, a profiler analysis may be needed instead.

What the Measurement Says About Players

These three runs contain no real players and yield no player count recommendation. A separately documented full-client test from 08/29/2026 showed a single world join and one chat interaction with a correctly paired client and server version. It does not replace a repeated load measurement with several people playing at the same time.

FAQ

Is 8 GB enough for two to three players?

This series does not answer that: there was neither an 8 GB comparison run nor a load level with two or three real players. The measured 10 GB product tier under a 12 GiB container limit is a documented starting point, not a blanket promise for every player world.

Is 10 GB the proven minimum?

No. For that, smaller allocations and the respective actual memory limits would have to be examined under comparable load. A passed run at one allocation does not make it the smallest functional allocation.

Does an almost full memory curve automatically mean too little RAM?

No. Assess heap, container usage, GC pauses, TPS, and OOM messages together. The curve alone does not reliably distinguish normal memory management from real memory pressure.

Do the numbers also apply to new ATM10 releases?

Only for the stated server pack version. A new version, changed JVM settings, or a different effective container limit can change the result and require their own assessment.

Sources and Verification Status

  • Three resource runs: 08/26–08/28/2026, same seed MCF-MODPACK-CAPACITY-V1, server file 8649107, and product allocation 10,240 MiB. 120 samples each; all stated resource values come from these runs.
  • Capacity profile: Derived from the three PASS runs on 08/28/2026, live data rechecked on 09/08/2026. The automatic freshness horizon ends on 09/27/2026; a version or configuration change requires a separate check.
  • Java memory management: Oracle — Java HotSpot Garbage Collection Tuning Guide.
  • Diagnostic commands: spark — Command Usage.

Verification status: September 8, 2026. The repeat measurements took place in August; the renewed check of the stored evidence is not a new load test.

Making Your Own ATM10 Measurements Comparable

Alongside the pack release and Minecraft version, note the JVM heap, the container limit, and the actually active gameplay situation. Compare RAM, MSPT, GC pauses, and OOM messages in the same load window. A session in a new world is not equivalent to an old base full of machines. For an upgrade, check whether memory limits or tick load trigger the concrete problem. If a different ATM10 release is installed, treat the historical measurement series as background and measure the new version separately. A calculated reserve value remains planning; it does not replace a passed run under a hard memory limit.
