BaseBuildingPlus on Your DayZ Server
BaseBuildingPlus (BBP) expands DayZ's base-building system with dozens of extra building parts, wallpaper, carpets, and plaster, and received a major overhaul with the 2.0 update — currently updated for patch 1.27. To install it, copy the @BaseBuildingPlus folder from your Workshop directory into the server's root directory and add -mod=@BaseBuildingPlus to your startup parameters. One step is easy to miss but critical: the BBP.bikey file from the bundled keys folder must be copied into your server's own keys folder, or signature verification errors will kick every connecting player. You should also merge the bundled types.xml into your own so building parts don't unexpectedly despawn. The mod is completely free to use. More than 2.8 million subscribers already run BBP.
Tip: Updating usually just means swapping the @BaseBuildingPlus folder, but check the change notes first.
Plan the rollout and operation
BaseBuildingPlus deserves more testing before a live season than a simple item pack. On a test world, build a foundation, a door, and one upgraded element, store items, and restart twice. Then check persistence, dismantling, and damage. Also decide which BBP pieces may be attacked during raid windows. A backup of the world, types files, and BBP configuration is essential before every major version change.
Before changes, back up the mission, profiles directory, and persistent storage, then record the Workshop ID, mod folder, and position in the -mod= parameter. Copy any supplied signature key into the server key directory and edit XML or JSON files only from a validated copy. After boot, review RPT, script, and admin logs, connect two clients, and test joining, the core feature, persistence, and reconnecting. Loot or types changes do not happen merely because the mod is loaded; merge them deliberately and verify the result in the world after restart. Schedule a maintenance window for updates, move server and clients to the same Workshop release, and keep the previous configuration ready for rollback. Remove a mod first on a test copy after stored items, vehicles, buildings, or profile entries have been handled. This prevents signature kicks, empty spawns, and unnecessary wipes.
