Turn-Based Terraria

I heard you like slow, torturous playthroughs, so I made Terraria into a turn-based game. Each turn, you can either move, use an item, or grapple, which builds up a time deficit. Then, enemies get to act for that length of time. Press a directional key to move 3-9 tiles in the chosen direction, destroying any tiles in the way and placing platforms as necessary. (IMPORTANT: This means you may not be able to move if you don't have platforms!) These movements conform to a grid, so if you move through the same area again later, you'll reuse the same tunnels and platforms. This is important because destroying or placing tiles inflates your time deficit. You can reduce the impact with a better pickaxe and/or a Builder Potion. Using an item works exactly as it does in vanilla, with the addition that swinging a melee weapon or bug net teleports you to the nearest target in the direction you're aiming, and using a tool instantly destroys the first tile you select. This mod is compatible with items, enemies, and tiles from other mods as well as mods that change the tick rate or player hitbox size. However, hotkeys from other mods are not affected by the turn system and can be activated when it's not your turn. Some changes to be aware of: - Buffs, DoT, regen, minions, player immunity frames, the time of day, plant growth, wiring, and enemy spawns only tick during the enemy action. Other time-based occurrences from other mods may not be affected. - Hermes Boots and other movement speed bonuses work, but vertical movement, dashes, and minecarts are useless. - Yoyos and other weapons that require holding the input are useless. - Your defense stat has diminishing returns. - The Mount, Quick Heal, Quick Mana, and Quick Buff hotkeys can be used without ending your turn. - Your block placement, tool, and item pickup ranges are increased. - Fishing serves as an escape from the normal pace of the game... which is to say, everything moves at full speed. It's a great way to pass the time. So is sleeping. - Bosses (and other durable enemies) have less life, but you'll still need every trick in the book to beat Expert Mode bosses. In the future, planned to include some more fun and less grindy ways (bosses) of getting items like biome fish, angler rewards and the Rod of Discord. New features in 0.3.5.2 update: - Config features added for trackers and Wayfinder NPC. - Wayfinder attack added/fixed. - Added debug commands. Included features: - Bottle sold in Merchant shop. - Dryad NPC: sells herb seed bundles for planting. - Wayfinder NPC, sells tracker for Shimmer. Likes Ocean and Angler for more convinient ocean pylon. Moves in if you've reached the Ocean or saved Angler. Planned features (May be subject to changes in the future) - Tracker for Temple. - Herbal Fish boss: fun optional boss that drops herb bags, worms and fish. Summon in different biomes to get that biomes fish with differing patterns of differing difficulties. - Upgrades to Axe of Regrowth to keep up with progression and provide additional harvesting QOL benefits later on (replanting herbs automatically) - Mod support for all supporting modded fish and herbs. - Discord boss: Hardmode boss that can be summoned at any time post Hardmode, but is intended to be fought post plantera.
