Frequently asked questions
How much RAM does a tModLoader server need?
tModLoader is comparatively lightweight — 1 GB RAM is sufficient for vanilla-style play. For mod-heavy setups with many content mods we recommend 2–4 GB RAM. Memory usage grows proportionally with the number and size of installed mods.
How do I install mods on my tModLoader server?
tModLoader uses the integrated mod browser and CurseForge as sources. Transfer the mod files (.tmod) into the Mods folder on the server. Important: mods must be identical on both server and client — otherwise players cannot join.
How many players can join a tModLoader server?
tModLoader supports up to 8 players simultaneously by default. This is configurable at server startup via the MAX_PLAYERS variable. For larger groups we recommend more RAM.
What world size should I choose?
tModLoader offers three world sizes: Small (1), Medium (2), and Large (3). For getting started, Small or Medium is fine — large worlds require more storage and longer load times. The size is set when creating the world.
How do I get started after ordering?
Your tModLoader server is ready within minutes. Configure world size, password, and player count in the control panel. Transfer mods via the file manager into the Mods folder and enable them via enabled.json.
Can I run popular mod packs like Calamity or Thorium on my tModLoader server?
Yes, Calamity, Thorium, Spirit, and many other large content mods run on tModLoader. For Calamity alone we recommend at least 2 GB RAM; for Calamity combined with Thorium, 3–4 GB. All players need exactly the same mod versions — when a mod updates, both server and client must update simultaneously.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
Every server can enable free add-ons such as Uptime Kuma, Sinusbot, Game Server Watcher, and more with one click in the dashboard.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 3 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
You choose the location at checkout: Germany (Falkenstein and Limburg) or France (Roubaix) — all in the EU, connected to the major European exchanges. Low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland at both locations, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?
The best provider is the one that shows you what you get before you pay: RAM, slots, location, price and cancellation terms. Here the price and resources are visible in the configurator before checkout, there is no minimum term and setup is automated — feel free to compare that with other offers.
Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates, DDoS protection and backups are included. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
