How much RAM does a Hytale server need?
Hytale requires at least 6 GB RAM. For 10+ players we recommend 8 GB. View Distance is the biggest RAM driver — the default 32 chunks consumes more than Minecraft.
Does Hytale use TCP or UDP?
Hytale uses the QUIC protocol over UDP (port 5520). This provides lower latency and better NAT traversal than TCP-based games.
Can I install mods on the Hytale server?
Yes! Over 6,200+ Mods are directly installable from the dashboard browser (via CurseForge). Popular mods: BetterMap (691K downloads), EyeSpy (535K), RPG Leveling (376K). Mods go in the /mods/ folder as .jar or .zip files.
Do players need a Hytale account?
In Authenticated mode yes — players log in with their Hytale account. We configure authentication automatically.
Does Hytale have multi-server support?
Yes! Hytale has native built-in multi-server routing. Players can switch between servers without a proxy like BungeeCord.
How do I set up admin rights on my Hytale server?
Admins are configured via the Hytale server settings — enter the player UUID or account name in `admins.json`. Admins can then use server commands such as kick, ban, whitelist management, and world manipulation directly via the in-game chat. You can also create permission groups with different access levels if you want a tiered moderation system for your community.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
Every server can enable free add-ons such as Uptime Kuma, Sinusbot, Game Server Watcher, and more with one click in the dashboard.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 3 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
You choose the location at checkout: Germany (Falkenstein and Limburg) or France (Roubaix) — all in the EU, connected to the major European exchanges. Low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland at both locations, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?

Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates, DDoS protection and backups are included. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
