Frequently asked questions

Can I use tModLoader on the server?
Yes, our Terraria server runs with tShock (tModLoader-compatible). You can install Steam Workshop mods directly via the mod list. All players also need tModLoader to connect.
What world size should I choose?
For multiplayer we recommend Large worlds — they offer significantly more content and exploration area. Small worlds are only suitable for short sessions or speedruns. Large worlds require around 200–400 MB of storage.
How many players can play on a Terraria server simultaneously?
Terraria Dedicated Servers support 8–16 players simultaneously depending on RAM. With 2 GB RAM, 8 players run smoothly; with 4 GB we recommend up to 16 players. Large mod packs (Calamity + Thorium combined) may require more RAM.
What is the difference between tShock and a Vanilla Terraria server?
The Vanilla Terraria server offers only basic multiplayer functions. tShock (our default) adds admin commands, group permissions, anti-cheat, whitelist, and plugin support — essential for public or larger private servers.
Can I upload an existing Terraria world?
Yes, you can upload your `.wld` world file and `.plr` character data via the File Manager in the dashboard. The server then loads the world on the next start.
Are Calamity Mod and Thorium compatible with each other?
Calamity and Thorium are generally compatible but can occasionally conflict at certain version combinations. We recommend keeping both mods at the same version and checking the respective mod changelogs when updating.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
Every server can enable free add-ons such as Uptime Kuma, Sinusbot, Game Server Watcher, and more with one click in the dashboard.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 3 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
Yes. All game servers run in German data centres (Falkenstein and Limburg) connected to the major German exchanges — low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?
The best provider is the one that shows you what you get before you pay: RAM, slots, location, price and cancellation terms. Here the price and resources are visible in the configurator before checkout, there is no minimum term and setup is automated — feel free to compare that with other offers.
Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates, DDoS protection and backups are included. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
