Why rent an Eco server with us?

Living ecosystem

Soil, climate and animal populations change with every intervention by your community — Eco simulates real ecological consequences, not just building mechanics.

Laws & your own economy

Your community votes on laws and elects a government — the rules directly affect resource extraction and trade prices. It is all managed through the web interface on port 3001.

Mods via file manager

Upload EcoModKit mods straight through our file manager — no FTP client needed.

From 6 GB RAM

Eco depends on world size: 6 GB is enough for the default world (1 km²) with 10-20 players. Larger worlds with more players need more RAM.

Frequently asked questions

What is Strange Loop Games (SLG) and do I need an account?
You do NOT need an SLG account to play: your server starts immediately in offline mode and is reachable via direct connect (IP:port). A free Strange Loop Games account (play.eco) is only required if you also want to list your server in the public Eco server browser — you set that listing up at play.eco yourself.
How much RAM does an Eco server need?
Eco RAM usage depends on world size: 6 GB is sufficient for a standard world (1 km²) with 10–20 players. For larger public servers (2 km²) we recommend 8–12 GB. Very large worlds (4 km²+) require 32 GB+.
How many players can join an Eco server?
Eco has no hard player limit — you can set MAX_CON to any value. With 6 GB RAM and a standard world, 10–20 players is realistic. With more RAM and a larger world (4 km²+, 32 GB), 80-100 players is possible. Important: according to the official Eco wiki, the server process only uses a single CPU core — so player count doesn't scale with RAM alone, it also depends on your server's single-core CPU performance.
What do the Eco ports (3000 and 3001) mean?
Eco requires two ports: port 3000 (UDP) for player connection traffic and port 3001 (TCP) for the web interface (browser-based server management and community website). Both ports are automatically configured by us.
How do I get started after ordering?
Nothing extra needed: after ordering the server installs automatically via Steam (~5–10 minutes) and starts your Eco world directly in offline mode. You and your players connect right away via direct connect (IP:port). If you also want the server listed publicly in the Eco server browser, set that up through your play.eco account.
How does the law and government system in Eco work?
Eco features a unique democracy system: players can propose laws, vote on them, and elect a government. Laws influence actual game rules — for example, who is allowed to harvest certain resources or how trade prices are regulated. On your dedicated server this system runs fully, allowing your community to build its own political structures — from direct democracy to a central government managed through the Eco web interface (port 3001).
Is Eco (Global Survival) available for Xbox, PS5, or PS4?
No: there is no Xbox (One/Series), PS4, or PS5 version of Eco (as of August 2026) — the game runs exclusively on PC (Steam, Windows/macOS/Linux). Our Eco server is the dedicated PC version: your fellow players connect via direct connect using the IP address and port or find you in the Eco server browser.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
Every server can enable free add-ons such as Uptime Kuma, Sinusbot, Game Server Watcher, and more with one click in the dashboard.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 3 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
Yes. All game servers run in German data centres (Falkenstein and Limburg) connected to the major German exchanges — low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?
The best provider is the one that shows you what you get before you pay: RAM, slots, location, price and cancellation terms. Here the price and resources are visible in the configurator before checkout, there is no minimum term and setup is automated — feel free to compare that with other offers.
Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates, DDoS protection and backups are included. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
