Information A small mod that adds 3 new types of ants, based on the 80’s Amiga game, It Came from the Desert, was made as a request from Reptilious and Delanne. The ants, Pogonomyrmex Gigantus only spawn on Scorched Earth. The regular version spawns where vanilla ants would spawn, the cave version and the flying version spawns in the caves of Scorched Earth. The surface ants are docile and won’t engage in combat unless provoked and if they have allies with them. The more of them you kill, the more likely the others will flee. If you stumble upon them inside the caves, their home environment, they will engage right away and fight you to the end. Beware that the flying ants can also spit acid! The surface version will eat both wild bushes and planted crops in your crop plots. They are huge, roughly the size of a Trike and when killed, they yield large quantities of Chitin, some Meat, and Organic Polymer. Beware though, as killing them will release their poisonous acid gas cloud! They have increased defense and take half damage unless you hit them on their antennas, where they take quadruple damage. Not especially fond of fire, which will also deal quadruple damage. With the base stats of a Trike, these ants shouldn’t be engaged if you are not prepared. Cannot be tamed or knocked out.
