Where Palworld Stores the World
Your Palworld server stores all save data under the path /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/. This is where the world files, player inventories, and Pal data are located. Backups protect you from accidental data loss, configuration errors, or game crashes.
Before you change anything risky, such as the server version, major configuration adjustments, or installing mods, having a current backup is always worthwhile.
Step 1: Open the Server Dashboard
Open the dashboard and click your Palworld server. In the ready state, you’ll find all management options.

Step 2: Create a Backup
Go to the Backups section on the server detail page. Click Create backup. The panel archives the entire server instance, including all files under /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/.
Depending on the world size, the process takes anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. The server keeps running during the backup.
Step 3: Download the Backup
After creation, the backup appears in the list with the date and time. Click Download to save the archive locally. Keep it in a safe place, for example on an external hard drive or in cloud storage.
Step 4: Restore the World
If you want to restore a world from a backup:
- Upload the desired backup archive, if necessary.
- Use the Restore function next to the corresponding backup entry.
- The server is stopped, the saved files are replaced, and the server then starts again.
Tip: Schedule Regular Backups
The more active your server is, the more often you should create backups. Creating a backup before every major update, whether to Palworld itself or to the configuration, is part of good server practice.
Summary
Palworld worlds are stored under /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/. With the in-panel backup function, you can create a full archive with one click, download it, and restore it in an emergency. Create backups especially before risky changes; it can save you a lot of frustration if something goes wrong.
