MUSEUM OF WONDERS Turn your Terraria town into a living tourist destination! Museum of Wonders allows you to build and decorate a functional museum using vanilla Terraria furniture and collectibles. Displays increase the museum’s Prestige, attract randomized daytime visitors, and generate admission fees inside a working Museum Vault. BUILDING A MUSEUM Your museum can be any building you design. It requires two special objects: a Museum Registry and a Museum Vault. MUSEUM REGISTRY Place the Museum Registry near the center of your building. It registers an area approximately 60 tiles horizontally and 35 tiles vertically in every direction. Right-click the Registry to view: • Total displays • Collection variety • Current Prestige Museum Registry recipe: • 20 Wood • 5 Iron Bars or Lead Bars • 1 Chain • Crafted at a Work Bench MUSEUM VAULT The Museum Vault stores admission fees paid by visitors. • Right-click to withdraw all collected money. • Hold Shift and right-click to inspect the balance. Museum Vault recipes: • 20 Iron Bars and 5 Gold Bars at an Anvil • OR 20 Lead Bars and 5 Platinum Bars at an Anvil Keep the Vault reasonably close to the Registry. SUPPORTED VANILLA EXHIBITS The following vanilla Terraria displays increase museum Prestige: • Paintings • Statues • Enemy banners • Boss trophies • Master Mode boss relics • Item Frames • Weapon Racks • Alternate Weapon Racks • Mannequins • Womannequins • Display Dolls • Hat Racks Supported painting sizes include 2×3, 3×2, 3×3, 4×3, and 6×4. This allows most collectible paintings, banners, statues, boss displays, armor displays, and equipment displays to become part of your museum. PRESTIGE AND VARIETY The Museum Registry provides 5 base Prestige. Different exhibits provide different amounts. Large paintings, boss trophies, and Master Mode relics are generally more valuable than common displays. The first copy of a particular display style grants full Prestige. Exact duplicates grant only 25% of their normal value, with a minimum of 1 Prestige. A varied collection is more valuable than filling the museum with copies of the same object. MUSEUM TOURISTS Temporary tourists arrive throughout the daytime. Each tourist receives a randomized: • Name • Body style • Hairstyle and hair color • Skin tone • Eye color • Shirt and undershirt color • Pants and shoe color Tourists use Terraria’s character-creation graphics, allowing every visitor to look different while remaining consistent with the vanilla art style. Visitors arrive outside, walk toward the Museum Registry, pay admission, and wander around the museum. They have a dedicated Museum Tourist minimap marker. Tourists leave at night and are removed when saving and quitting. They do not permanently occupy town housing. VISITOR CAPACITY Museum Prestige determines how many tourists can visit simultaneously: • 0–14 Prestige: 1 visitor • 15–29 Prestige: 2 visitors • 30–44 Prestige: 3 visitors • 45–59 Prestige: 4 visitors • 60–74 Prestige: 5 visitors • 75 or more Prestige: 6 visitors Visitors arrive at staggered intervals of approximately 15–30 seconds. ADMISSION FEES Each tourist pays admission once after reaching the Museum Registry. Admission in silver = 1 + Prestige divided by 10 Whole numbers are used. Examples: • 5 Prestige earns 1 silver per visitor. • 20 Prestige earns 3 silver per visitor. • 51 Prestige earns 6 silver per visitor. • 100 Prestige earns 11 silver per visitor. Admission fees are deposited automatically into the nearest Museum Vault. Higher Prestige means more visitors and larger payments! OPTIONAL TESTING COMMANDS /museumkit Provides construction materials, a Museum Registry, a Museum Vault, and starter displays. /museumstatus Reports the nearest museum’s displays, variety, Prestige, and Vault balance. /museumtourist Immediately sends a tourist during daytime if the museum has available capacity. /museumday Changes the world to early morning. /museumdeposit Deposits one test silver coin into the nearest Vault. /museumdeposit 25 Deposits 25 test silver coins. These commands are optional and are not required for normal gameplay. MULTIPLAYER Museum of Wonders includes synchronization for tourist appearances, admission status, NPC spawning, and Vault balances. Multiplayer support is included but is still awaiting broader testing. Please report any synchronization issues. Museum of Wonders is designed as a standalone town role-playing mod using primarily vanilla Terraria graphics and collectibles. Build your own museum, assemble a varied collection, attract visitors, and earn admission money! Your town NPCs have places like the Tavern. Now the rest of the world has a reason to visit your town too!
