How would you like to play?

Slots are the connection limit, not a guarantee of that many simultaneously active players. Map size, entities, wipe age, plugins and CPU load determine actual requirements.

Control you can see

Inside our Rust management tools: map settings and files in your browser. Images show example configurations.

Your world starts with a seed

Rust management with World Size and World Seed input fields

Map size and seed define your world. Before changing them, check whether a new world will be generated and back up your existing save.

Your files in the browser

Rust file manager showing server folders and upload controls

Upload configurations and saves through the file manager. Back up existing files and check the version and server identity before importing a save.

Prepare your wipes

Map wipes and blueprint wipes are different operations. Check the scope, announce the restart to your community and create a backup first. Facepunch updates may require a forced wipe; a backup does not automatically make old worlds compatible with new versions.

Vanilla or uMod/Oxide?

The uMod catalogue helps you research plugins. Automatic plugin installation is currently unavailable. Manual setup requires a suitable framework and version-compatible plugins; check again after updates.

Choose RAM for your world and workload

Facepunch lists 12 GB of free RAM as a starting point; very large maps need more. Additional plugins, many buildings and longer wipe cycles increase demand. Allow headroom and monitor resource use while playing.

Frequently asked questions

Does the server support Oxide/uMod?
Use the integrated uMod catalog to research admin, economy, and gameplay plugins. Automated installation is not currently enabled; verify compatibility and set up Oxide/uMod and plugins manually.
Can I schedule wipes?
Yes, you can set up scheduled wipes. Many servers wipe weekly or monthly. You configure the wipe schedule in the control panel — map wipe and blueprint wipe can be controlled independently.
What map size should I use?
For 50 players we recommend a map size of 3,000–3,500. Larger maps (4,000+) require more RAM and CPU resources. The procedural seed is freely configurable to get the map topology you want.
How many players can join a Rust server?
The player limit is configurable. Actual resource demand depends on concurrent players, map size, plugins, and load; choose RAM and slots for your scenario in the configurator and monitor usage after launch.
Can I link the server to RUST+ Companion?
Yes, RUST+ (the official companion app) works on dedicated servers. Players can receive push notifications, view the team map, and use server chat directly in the app. Pairing happens automatically via the in-game pair code.
How do I get started after ordering?
After provisioning, configure the server name, map size, seed, and maximum players in the control panel. Larger Steam installations can take longer. Research uMod plugins in the catalog; automated installation is not currently enabled.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.gs.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
For every server you enable Uptime Kuma (server monitoring) and Game Server Watcher (server status in Discord/Telegram) with one click in the dashboard at no extra cost, plus one bot such as Sinusbot (music bot for Discord/TeamSpeak). Every additional bot costs extra.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 7 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer. Setup creates the subdomain and DNS records automatically, and for Minecraft also accepts the EULA and installs Geyser.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
You choose the location at checkout: Germany (Falkenstein and Limburg) or France (Roubaix) — all in the EU, connected to the major European exchanges. Low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland at both locations, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?
The best provider is the one that shows you what you get before you pay: RAM, slots, location, price and cancellation terms. Here the price and resources are visible in the configurator before checkout, there is no minimum term and setup is automated — feel free to compare that with other offers. Rust starts here at 22.05 EUR per month, and setup typically takes about 7 minutes.
Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates and backups are included; data-center DDoS protection is included at every location. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
Can I increase or decrease the RAM later?
Yes, you can do it yourself in the customer area using a slider. An upgrade takes effect immediately: you only pay the prorated difference for the remaining term, and the new price applies from the next renewal. A downgrade takes effect on the next renewal date. Your world, settings and subdomain are kept, and depending on the game, a restart is required afterwards. With monthly payment and a minimum term, the change is only possible once that term has ended, and for games with a slot-based plan it is not available.
