Frequently asked questions

How much RAM does a Space Engineers server need?
The dedicated server loads the whole world into memory and needs several GB even when empty. 6 GB RAM is enough for 1-4 players in a standard world, we recommend 8 GB RAM for 5-8 players, and 16 GB RAM for full rounds with up to 16 engineers or large worlds with many grids and mods.
How many players fit on the server?
You set the player count in the panel, up to 16 at a time. Space Engineers scales mainly with the simulation: many grids, factories and scripts cost more compute than extra players. For 16 players we recommend 16 GB RAM and a manageable world size.
How do my friends connect to the server?
In the main menu, open Join Game and search for the server name in the Steam server browser, or use Direct Connect and enter the IP:port from your dashboard. All players need the same game version; the server updates itself to the current Steam build on every start.
Can I use mods from the Steam Workshop?
Yes. Add the Workshop IDs of your mods as mod entries to the world configuration (Sandbox_config.sbc in the folder config/Saves/World) and enable experimental mode in the panel — without it Space Engineers loads no mods. The server downloads the mods from the Workshop on start, players receive them automatically when joining.
Can I continue my own world?
Yes. Upload the contents of your local save (on Windows under %AppData%\SpaceEngineers\Saves\<SteamID>\<world name>) with the file manager into the folder config/Saves/World on the server and replace the existing files. The folder name World stays — it is hard-wired in the server configuration. After a restart your world continues.
How do I start after ordering?
Your Space Engineers server installs itself: the dedicated server from Steam is around 8 GB, and the server sets up its Windows runtime once — expect roughly 15 to 20 minutes until the first start. Then set server name, description, game mode, player count and autosave in the panel; every further start takes only a few minutes. The server autosaves into config/Saves/World, and manual and scheduled backups protect the server files on top.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
Every server can enable free add-ons such as Uptime Kuma, Sinusbot, Game Server Watcher, and more with one click in the dashboard.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 20 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
You choose the location at checkout: Germany (Falkenstein and Limburg) or France (Roubaix) — all in the EU, connected to the major European exchanges. Low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland at both locations, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?
The best provider is the one that shows you what you get before you pay: RAM, slots, location, price and cancellation terms. Here the price and resources are visible in the configurator before checkout, there is no minimum term and setup is automated — feel free to compare that with other offers.
Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates and backups are included; the network protection that applies to your server is shown in the configurator before you order. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
