Frequently asked questions

How many players can join the server?
In the current tariff, 16 GB RAM is paired with up to 67 player slots and 24 GB RAM with up to 100 player slots. The configurator shows the exact limit for your selection.
Can I add custom layers (maps)?
Yes, custom layers can be uploaded via the file management. You can build custom rotation lists and configure map voting.
Is SquadJS supported?
Yes, SquadJS is the community-standard management framework for Squad. It provides RCON integration, logging, Discord notifications, and map voting. You can install it via the file manager.
How do I get started after ordering?
Typical initial setup: about 30 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer. Configure server name, password, max players, and map rotation in the control panel. The server appears in Squad's in-game browser once online.
Can I manage the server with RCON?
Yes, Squad offers full RCON management. Using the RCON port and password from your dashboard you can connect admin tools like SquadJS or direct RCON clients. Via RCON you control map changes, kick players, issue warnings, and manage team balance in real time.
How does map rotation work on a Squad server?
Squad servers use a layer rotation — each map has multiple playable layers (e.g. Yehorivka RAAS v1, Yehorivka AAS v2). You define the rotation in the LayerRotation.cfg file or use SquadJS with its map-voting plugin. This lets players vote democratically on the next map at the end of each round.
Are automatic updates applied to my Squad server?
Yes, Squad updates are applied automatically. The server checks for new versions on every restart. After a major update (e.g. a new map or balance patch) a manual restart via the control panel or RCON command is sufficient — no manual file uploads needed.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.com, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
What are the free extras?
Every server can enable free add-ons such as Uptime Kuma, Sinusbot, Game Server Watcher, and more with one click in the dashboard.
How quickly is my server online?
Typical initial setup: about 30 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term minimum. Billing is a monthly subscription and automatic renewal can be disabled. Longer terms may qualify for discounts.
Are the servers located in Germany?
Yes. All game servers run in German data centres (Falkenstein and Limburg) connected to the major German exchanges — low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
Which provider is best for my server?
The best provider is the one that shows you what you get before you pay: RAM, slots, location, price and cancellation terms. Here the price and resources are visible in the configurator before checkout, there is no minimum term and setup is automated — feel free to compare that with other offers.
Should I host the server myself or rent one?
Self-hosting costs power, time and a machine that runs around the clock; port forwarding, updates and backups are on you. A rented server is online within minutes, keeps running when your PC is off, and updates, DDoS protection and backups are included. For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
