Reviewed August 28, 2026. Palworld v1.0.3 is the current build reviewed on August 28, 2026. The August 11/12 patch contains balance adjustments and bug fixes. For Dedicated Servers, v1.0.2 is also important because Pocketpair fixed Panthalus battle crashes and disconnects. The official server documentation is now explicitly versioned 1.0.3.

Continue editing the active Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini; changing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini has no effect, and the directories appear only after the first start. CrossplayPlatforms defaults to Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac. bIsUseBackupSaveData enables rolling world backups but increases disk load. Admin commands require AdminPassword followed by /AdminPassword in game. Pocketpair also notes that, from v1.0 onward, leaving the old performance startup flags unset may perform better.
Which version should you run?
Run v1.0.3 in production when the client, server and required mods support the same build. Do not turn a version number into a universal RAM table: world size, bases, Pals, players and mods determine load. Change configuration and mods only with a backup and a reproducible test.
Safe update workflow
- Run
/Save, stop the server cleanly, and export the world, configuration and mod files. - Update server and client to the same build; first boot without mods that have not confirmed compatibility.
- Diff the active
PalWorldSettings.iniagainst the v1.0.3 documentation and test removing obsolete performance arguments. - Check startup log, world, crossplay, admin access and a complete join before reintroducing mods one by one.
Choose the guide for the exact Palworld job
- New server and first start: create a Dedicated Server
- Panel fields: server settings wizard
- Pals, PvP and ongoing configuration: configure PalWorldSettings.ini and optimize settings
- Friends and platforms: set up multiplayer and check crossplay
- Safety and load: world backups and performance/RAM
- Version migration and mods: Palworld 1.0 server update and install mods
Frequently asked questions
Which Palworld version should the server run?
v1.0.3 is current on the review date. Client and server must match; verify mod support separately.
Which configuration file is active?
On Linux, edit Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini. The default file is only a template.
Which platforms are enabled for crossplay by default?
The v1.0.3 documentation lists Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac. Still compare client and server builds when joining fails.
Should I keep the old performance flags?
Not automatically. Pocketpair says leaving them unset from v1.0 onward may perform better. Compare both states with the same world and load.
