Immersive Vehicles adds the technical foundation for vehicles to Minecraft Java. To actually make cars or aircraft available, you need matching content packs. This guide helps you keep the base mod, vehicle packs and settings separate and prepare a shared installation. Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge is used as a concrete example; other Minecraft versions need their own matching version set.
Why Immersive Vehicles alone does not include vehicles yet
The base mod provides the foundation. Vehicle packs supply the related content; additional parts packs can be further dependencies. The project explicitly points out that the base mod does not include vehicles. According to the developer, the packs also belong in the mods directory. Immersive Vehicles: project description
Do not confuse these packages with ordinary resource packs. If a message points to missing packs, start with their installation and dependencies. Allocating more RAM does not create missing vehicle definitions.

The example versions come from the specific releases of IV 24.0.0, OCP V29 and OAmP V3. They are a version example, not a general statement about current recommendations or every interaction with other mods.
For Minecraft 1.21.1, Java 21 is the appropriate major version. You check which runtime is actually being used in the launcher or when starting the server. A separately installed Java does not have to be the runtime used by your Minecraft instance. The NeoForge guide explains Java selection and installation.
Build the installation in a controlled way
- Create a separate test instance: Use a separate game directory. Back up an existing world before opening it with new mods. A new test world is even clearer.
- Select Minecraft and NeoForge: Set up the target version in the launcher. On the first start, check that the desired profile is actually being used.
- Get IV and packs: Download the matching files from the official project pages and check their dependencies. Place them in the
modsdirectory of this instance. - Check basic functionality: Start the test instance. Check startup messages, loaded mods and the availability of the desired content. Do not add any further vehicle or graphics experiments at this point.
- Match the server separately: For multiplayer, set up the matching NeoForge server installation and check the required gameplay mods together with the packs. Do not use a complete client directory as an unchecked server template.
- Test together: Check joining, visible vehicle, entering, movement and state after a restart. Only then move the installation into your shared world.

Which vehicle settings change the game?
When started in isolation under NeoForge 21.1.248, IV 24.0.0 created the file config/mtsconfig.json in the game directory. The following keys are found there in the object general, each with value and comment. A separate file, config/mtsconfigclient.json, contains client settings. For other releases, check the files that are actually generated; do not blindly add missing entries.

Change settings and check their effect
Back up the configuration that was actually generated and stop the relevant instance before manually editing the file. Keep the existing JSON format: for the desired key, change the field value, not the name or the comment. 0 is a number; do not write either the JSON value null or the string "0" for it. After saving, restart fully and check the file for parser errors. This process does not assume changes are applied while the game is running. For multiplayer, you also need to check the rule on the specific test server; a local start does not prove server permission behavior.
Test the effect with a concrete question. For an access rule, check the same action once with a normal player and once with an operator. For consumption rules, compare the same vehicle under conditions that are as similar as possible. A saved value alone does not yet prove that the running session has applied it.
If the result is not right, restore the backed-up configuration. You should plan a way back from a modified world through the full backup. Do not remove content mods thoughtlessly from a production world and then save it as a supposed repair.

Is there one single control scheme for every vehicle?
Do not infer that from the name of the base mod. Vehicle packs can provide different control flows and components. Check the key bindings of your instance and the instructions for the specific vehicle. A general key for every car and every aircraft would not be reliable guidance here.
Can I simply copy my own 3D models into the mods folder?
A model file is not yet a finished Minecraft vehicle pack. For normal gameplay, use a suitable published pack. Custom model development is a separate task and is not covered by this installation guide.
Do I need a special hosting plan for this?
First check whether the required server software and mod installation are supported. The Minecraft server offering is the starting point for your shared world. The number of JAR files alone does not provide a reliable RAM requirement; for that, you need a test with your world and player count. For delayed actions, the server lag diagnosis helps.
